On September 19-20, 2024, security forces neutralized 12 militants in two major encounters in North and South Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operations were part of ongoing anti-terrorism efforts in these border regions.

In the first incident, seven terrorists were intercepted while attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan. After a fierce firefight, all seven were eliminated, and a large cache of weapons and explosives was recovered.
In South Waziristan's Ladha region, five more militants attacked a security checkpoint. The soldiers successfully repelled the assault, killing all attackers. However, six Pakistani soldiers were martyred during these intense exchanges of fire.
The military emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure no remaining threats persist in the area
