Peshawar, Quetta and Multan: What delicious cuisines these cities are famous for?

The cities of Peshawar, Quetta and Multan have rich food traditions with unique dishes that reflect  cultural and historical influences.

Peshawar: 

1.Chapli Kebab:


 This is perhaps Peshawar's most famous dish. It is a flat, round flatbread made with minced meat (usually beef or mutton) mixed with spices, herbs, tomatoes and onions. It is traditionally fried in animal fat, giving it a rich, spicy flavour.

 2.Kabli Pulao: 


A fragrant rice dish  with raisins, carrots and meat, often lamb or chicken. It is popular throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but is a speciality in Peshawar.

 3.Namak Mandi Karahi:


 Named after Peshawar's famous food street, Namak Mandi Karahi is a  lamb or mutton dish cooked with minimal spices to bring out the natural flavour of the meat. 

Quetta: 

1.Sajji:


 A typical Baloch dish, sajji is a whole chicken or lamb marinated in salt, stuffed with rice and roasted over an open flame. The meat is tender and juicy with a smoky flavour

2.Khaak (Stone Bread):


 Traditional Baloch bread baked on a hot stone. It is usually served with meat dishes such as sajji.

 3.Landhi: 


Landhi is a traditional Baloch dish consisting of dried meat (usually lamb) generously salted and sun-dried. It is kept for winter and can be cooked in different ways with simple spices.

  Multan:

 1.Sohan Halwa:


 Multan is famous for this sweet delicacy. Sohan Halwa is a rich caramel-like treat made with sugar,  flour, milk and ghee and is often garnished with nuts like pistachios and almonds.

 2.Multani Champ: 


A popular meat dish made by marinating and grilling lamb chops. The marinade usually contains yogurt and a spice blend that gives the chops a tender and flavorful profile. 

 3.Dal Souka:


 A lentil dish  unique to the region. The lentils are cooked until  soft and almost dry, seasoned with traditional spices and sometimes garnished with fresh coriander.

 Each city offers a unique dining experience rooted in  local culture and history. These dishes will not only delight your taste buds, but also offer a glimpse into the rich traditions of each region.
