At least 12 people, including 10 women and girls, have died after a migrant boat carrying dozens tore apart in the English Channel, according to local authorities.

On September 3, 2024, at least 12 migrants, including 10 women and girls, were tragically killed when a boat sank in the English Channel.

 The packed small boat was attempting to travel from France to the UK when it broke apart near Cape Gris Nes, just 32 miles from Dover.

 Most of the victims were of Eritrean descent, and among the dead were a pregnant woman and several minors. The incident  reignited calls for safer and more legal routes for asylum seekers to prevent such tragedies.
