PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in New York to attend 79th UN General Assembly session

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in New York on September 23, 2024 to attend the 79th  UN General Assembly. During his five-day visit, he is scheduled to address the gathering on September 27 and highlight Pakistan's stance on major global issues such as the Kashmir conflict, the Palestinian conflict, climate change, and international peace efforts.

On the sidelines of the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz will participate in high-level meetings including discussions on the existential threat posed by rising sea levels and peace governance. 

He is also scheduled to meet  several world leaders including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, World Bank President Ajay Banga, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. 

The visit will also include discussions on promoting Pakistan's pro-business policies and tackling issues such as terrorism, climate change, and  challenges faced by debt-burdened countries.
