Metro Service Suspended Following Record Breaking Rainfall

In Multan, metro services were suspended as record rains caused severe flooding across the city. Heavy rains reached 177 mm at Chungi Treatment Plant No. 9, surpassing the previous record set in 1976.

The heavy rains caused major disruptions, including the suspension of  metro bus services from BCG Chowk to BZU station due to a burst pipe at the WASA pipe. The city's sewerage system struggled to cope with the sudden influx of water, causing widespread flooding and power outages in several areas.

The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA)  declared a rain emergency and teams are working around the clock to unclog clogged drains and restore services.

District authorities have promised to resume metro services  once  necessary repairs are completed and the situation stabilizes. Meanwhile, residents are facing major challenges due to ongoing flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
