Multan Sees Record Breaking Rain After 48 Years

Multan experienced its heaviest rainfall in 48 years. A torrential rainfall of 177 mm was recorded at  the Zhongyi No. 9 Dump Site, beating the previous record set in 1976.

The heavy rains caused widespread flooding across the city, resulting in significant disruption.

Many roads and footpaths were submerged, especially in low-lying areas, making them impassable for vehicles and pedestrians. The city's infrastructure was severely affected.

There were reports of power outages  due to broken power supply lines and  metro bus services being suspended due to broken WASA lines.

The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has declared a rain emergency and is focused on diverting water and restoring services.

Authorities are on high alert as the Meteorological Agency warns that further rains are expected in the coming days, which could further worsen the flood situation
