Pakistan made a historic debut at the 2024 LATAM Cup, an international ice hockey tournament in Coral Springs, Florida. It was the first time Pakistan participated in a major ice hockey tournament.
The team, consisting of 18 Pakistani-American players, was quickly formed by NHL official Donnie Khan and former NHL intern Umar Khan.
The team had early setbacks with losses to Chile and Mexico, but won their first championship with a 5-2 win over Brazil. The achievement marked the beginning of Pakistan's hockey journey at the international level and was a proud moment for the team and the entire Pakistani community.
Going forward, there are plans to further expand Pakistan's presence in sport, including discussions on establishing a women's ice hockey team, which is expected to attract more Pakistani participants and potentially lead to future appearances at world competitions such as the Asian Winter Games and even the Winter Olympics.
