To ensure security during the Chhelm procession in memory of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) on 26 August  2024, mobile communications were suspended in several important cities of Sindh province, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Khairpur.

 The precautionary measure, ordered by the Sindh Interior Ministry, aims to maintain peace and order during the large religious gatherings. Church services were suspended in Karachi  from 8 am to 11 pm, and similar disruptions continued throughout the day in other cities.

 Security strategies also included increased police deployment and aerial surveillance of the procession
