England's top pacer, Mark Wood, has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan due to a recurrence of his elbow injury.

Wood has been battling pain in his right elbow, which worsened during the summer Test series against the West Indies.

A medical scan confirmed that he has a bone stress injury. The setback will not only rule him out of the Pakistan series, but also the subsequent series against New Zealand (Track 6 vs Kherson and Track 7 vs Kherson).

Wood shared his disappointment, explaining that despite having worked hard on his fitness, he needs rest to fully recover.

He is aiming to return in early 2025 and could have his sights set on the ICC Champions Trophy and other major tournaments.
