In 2024, Islamabad schools introduced a new schedule that includes night classes to better accommodate students. The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has scheduled hours from 2 pm to 7 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 2 pm to 7 pm on Mondays to Thursdays for some schools.
The adjustment is part of a wider effort to manage student numbers and make the most of school infrastructure that is under pressure due to high enrolment and limited capacity.
However, night classes are also being phased out in certain schools and colleges, especially where the number of students in the night shift can accommodate morning classes.
The move is part of a wider strategy to streamline operations and reduce the logistical and financial burden of parallel shifts.
