On August 31, 2024, a large piece of concrete plaster fell from the ceiling of a classroom at a public high school in Basilo village, Khairpur district, injuring 12 eighth-grade students. 
The incident occurred during class, leaving several students with severe head injuries. The injured students were immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and assess the structural integrity of the school.
